Achievements

 Johnsons

Coming from a management accountancy background, I am enjoying learning and working on the statutory side of accounting that working in Practice demands. Having many years of experience within organisations across industries such as manufacturing, consulting, retail and media, my strength is in supporting non-financial people with their finance needs whilst understanding their business drivers and commercial challenges.

So far during my time at Johnsons, I have enjoyed building a relationship with my clients whilst meeting their reporting needs. I take pride in being client focused and providing a good service. I have been able to bring reporting deadlines forward when unexpectedly required by a client, help clarify understanding of financial concepts and provide training and support in the use of financial packages.

Previous Organisations:

Fin-Acts Ltd: Significantly reduced the debtors for the largest client in the Practice, thereby improving their cashflow.

Haymarket Business Media – Head of Management Accounts: Brought stability to the team and professional growth to the individuals within it. Strengthened the relationship between management accounts and the business. Developed and rolled out management reporting to track performance.

Crombie – Budgeting and Business Planning Consultant: Managed the budgeting process at both the strategic and operational levels. Maintained close contact with budget holders to ensure timely delivery of the budgets. Quickly built rapport with senior management which enabled a smooth budgeting process. Created a flexible budget model within Excel, challenged the budget assumptions, identified risks and opportunities and performed ‘what-if’ analysis.

House of Fraser:

Retail Finance Manager: Managed the finance function for the HoF stores chain (sixty stores at the time). Responsible for the provision of accurate and timely management information to the Operations Director, Stores Director and Retail Directorate. Improved accuracy of, and increased focus on, monthly P&L forecasts, hence facilitating the delivery of cost savings.

Supply Chain Finance Manager: Provided financial and commercial support to the Supply Chain Director and Supply Chain Directorate. Successfully managed the negotiation of a multimillion pound logistics contract. Provided financial input to support creation of an innovative contract structure that focused on creating a partnership through profit share.

Category Finance Analyst: Provided analytical support to Buying Directors to facilitate decision-making. Introduced structured process for shop-fit capex requests from financial appraisal through to regular post-investment reviews and communication of the results across the business. Key member of team that developed and implemented Direct Product Profitability (DPP) reporting into the business.

Accenture – Assistant Accountant: Assisted in the improvement of business processes and led development of automated report production process. Consistently met the strict service baseline, often under adverse conditions. Was the first to gain highest rating in customer satisfaction survey since taking on the client.
